What can I do during the weekend?

COMMUNITY MEMBERS and SPONSORS

You do not have to have a caterpillar on the flight to participate in any of the community-wide activities throughout the weekend. All members of the Chrysalis and Emmaus community are encouraged to attend send-off, sponsor's hours, candlelight, closing and follow-up.

You are also encouraged to work in the kitchen and dining room, or Big House!, lift up prayers in the prayer chapel, place your name on the prayer vigil banner (click here to do it now online!) and pray up the flight, and always remember the need for snack foods, drinks, and baked goods. Even though you don't have a caterpillar on the flight, the team and caterpillars still need your support! For directions for the weekend, click here. You can also make Agapé for the flight (click here for some ideas). Your are always welcome at anytime during the weekend to vist and serve!

PRAY!

SEND OFF (9 a.m. day one).
Come on time to see the caterpillars and team off!

SPONSOR'S HOUR (9:15 a.m. day one).
Not just for sponsors! Stay to pray with sponsors for the team and caterpillars immediately following Send-Off.

CANDLELIGHT (7:30 p.m. day two). directions
Remember the second night of your flight? Now participate in the worship service, starting at 7:30 p.m. day two of the weekend (check the weekend dates). Please stay out of sight from the team and caterpillars before the service.

CLOSING (4:30 p.m. day three).
Join in this final community gathering for the weekend, the beginning to what God has done for the caterpillars and team.

FOLLOW-UP (6:30 p.m. Saturday after the flight).
Contact the weekend's lay director or board member for the location, as it changes. Check the front page of this site for information as it's available.

What does it take to go on a Flight or Journey?

You need to be sponsored by someone who has been on a Flight, Journey, or Emmaus Walk in the past. This sponsor will have all the information you need to register and attend a Weekend.

You'll need to complete a Registration form - your sponsor will get one for you from this Web site.

There is a $35.00 nonrefundable deposit due with your application and another $40.00 payable the Saturday morning you start your weekend.

A few pointers for while you're on the weekend...

• You'll want to bring basic bedding (sleeping bag or sheets and blanket), comfortable clothing, dress clothes for a special dinner, toiletries and nothing more. Everything else you need will be provided.

• Leave your watch and any valuables home.

• No cell phones or other electronic devices. Tell your friends you will be unavailable for the weekend. We want you to relax and forget about the outside world for a few days.

• If you need to take scheduled medications let us know when you arrive at the registration table and we'll be sure to let you know when those times come around.

• Make sure to tell your sponsor about any special diet needs or food allergies

• Relax and have a great experience!

For Community Members:

• Butterfly's individualized agape is limited to cards and letters. Keep all others to give after the weekend.
• A list of agapé ideas can be found here.
• If you bring meal agape, bring enough for all the catterpillars and team (enough for 70 people).
• Please put your name and phone number on your AgapÈ package so unused agapÈ can be returned to you for future weekends.
• See AgapÈ Chair to retrieve excess agapÈ at Gatherings (check the table by the door first).
• The Community needs to arrive at 8:00 on day two (usually Sunday) for Candlelight.
• When Candlelight is over, please exit the building quickly and quietly.
• Closing starts at 4:30 on day three (usually Monday) - when you leave make all the noise you want!

Some flights may start on a Friday due to school schedules.
